By entering the defence sector, M&H is tapping into a highly regulated market. The company holds the relevant business licence and is already working on specific projects.
One example is the manufacture of key components for a digital handgun in Austria. Components such as the trigger or the bolt catch are manufactured using additive manufacturing and then precision-finished.
The advantage lies in the design: whilst traditional solutions consist of several individual parts, additively manufactured components are produced from a single piece. This reduces potential weaknesses and extends the service life.
It is precisely in safety-critical environments that the potential of additive manufacturing becomes apparent: reduced complexity, greater stability and more efficient production – particularly for small and medium batch sizes.
