Efficiency doesn’t stop at 3D printing: how smart post-processing saves time and money

In additive manufacturing, it is no longer the printing process alone that determines quality and cost-effectiveness. Downstream CNC machining, in particular, offers enormous potential for reducing set-up times, improving process reliability and boosting productivity in the long term.

M&H CNC Technik, in collaboration with AMF, demonstrates how this works in practice in a recent customer application. The system utilises a patented substrate plate clamping system that optimises the entire manufacturing process from start to finish: thanks to its segmented design and integrated K5 interface, the printed components can be transferred directly to the CNC post-processing stage without the need for re-calibration. The reference points are retained, resulting in a repeatability of less than five micrometres.

In the video, you will learn how set-up times can be significantly reduced, what advantages an integrated process chain offers, why accessibility is improved during 5-axis machining, and how building panels can be utilised more efficiently. The system opens up new possibilities for cost-effective mass and small-batch production, particularly for sectors such as medical technology, aerospace, motor sport and many other high-tech applications.
